God loves family or He would not have created us. The first command God gave to the man and woman was to reproduce, to multiply. God wants a big family. The Proverbs 31 woman made such a great impact on her family they respected her, blessed her, and stood by her. Her husband praised her. In this section we deal with relationships in marriage, with children, and as a single person. We hope you will be encouraged and grow as you review these articles.

Childhood Memories

Article by Gilda Santor

My mom was a special lady. She taught me to cook, clean, crochet, embroider,
sew a little and everything to prepare me for whatever the future brought before me.  All these things were done with love. My mom had me make my bed almost immediately after getting up and dishes were washed and put away as soon as we were finished with a meal. She wanted our home kept neat and clean. My mom would say, “You never know who might stop over.”

Many times my dad would phone my mom and tell her he
was bringing people for dinner. By the time they arrived a meal would be
ready.  We did not have a lot, but thank God for pasta.

When I was twelve years old my dad became very ill and my mom had to go to work. At this point of my life I began to learn how to cook.  I would call my mom at work and she would tell me how to cook certain foods. Of course I was skeptical and would say, “ What if it does not turn out right?”, but she would always encourage me and tell me that practice makes perfect.  I can parallel this in life with the word of God the more intake of God’s word the more change there will be in our character.

My mom spoke well of people.  She told me to never forget the good things people do for you and that you should never think you can repay the good done for you because it was done out of love. My mom would always bring something when we visited people. We would went empty handed.

When my dad died I was married and my mom lived with us. She worked
downtown as a bookkeeper. This was good since she only had a grammar
school education.  She would leave at 6AM and go to St. Peter's Catholic
church before work. She would say, “Today I need to talk to the ‘Big Boss’. She would always be praying for someone.  When she came home from work she usually had treats. All the kids on the block enjoyed her. She was like the pied piper.

She was a godmother twenty two times and loved by many.  When she went home to the Lord on May 23, 1974 my mom was sixty two years young....many
friends, relatives and acquaintances (people she rode with on the bus and people she met at St. Peter's church) came to pay homage to a wonderfull lady who shared what little she had with many, even the priest from St. Peter's came.

.......OH  how I miss her.... and the clanging pots and pans on
Saturday morning when she would start cooking, the smell of her cooking and making donuts for us almost every Saturday.

MOM, I know you are in heaven and I will see you and DAD
someday.

your loving daughter..............GILDA
