Monthly Meditation:
Making Life Beautiful
October 6-8 is our annual women’s conference. The theme is “Making Life Beautiful”.
Our world appears to be getting uglier in many ways – crime is
escalating all over the globe, marriages are failing, the economy is not
good, disasters are occurring in greater numbers.
As Christians
it is our job to bring light into a dark place. The problem is that we
haven’t been doing such a good job. Not only do most of us not share the
“Good News” with others, but, more importantly, we do not live it in
front of people. What most see are a group who fight with one another,
do not keep their word, have a divorce rate that is as high as the
world’s and engage in sin and other activities that the world does.
What makes us different than the person who does not believe in God?
Why
would anyone want to be a Christian, if we are not examples? I do not
mean the type of person that blasts some Bible scriptures and expects
people to pray a prayer with them. We, obviously, are not perfect and
never will be, but we should live to the best of our ability the way God
outlined in His Word for us to live.
Matthew
5:21 tells us to let our light shine before men so they can see our
good works and it will glorify our Father in heaven.
The
reason we do not do act the way we should, is because we do not keep
our light shining by looking at God’s Word and believing what He says
about us. Fuel should continually be added to fire in order to keep it
going. As we look at, think about and act on it, we cultivate God’s
light, His beauty in us. The result is we become more like Him. This
enables us to make life beautiful.
Making life beautiful flows out of our relationship with God.
Ephesians
2:10 says that we are His masterpiece created for good works. When we
do not believe we are His masterpiece, we become handicapped, even
paralyzed. As we allow our thoughts to wander from God’s, our life
meanders down a path that will eventually destroy us. It, certainly,
will not be a life that leads others to Christ.
Psalm 139:17 says that God’s thoughts are beautiful.
As
we think on God’s Word, we are changed. We begin to look more like Him.
The beauty we have comes from within and seeps through our pores so
others may see the splendor and magnificence of the one who gave Himself
for us.
I encourage you to
meditate on the scripture confessions that will come weekly this month
so you can cultivate the beauty within.
Come to the conference. You’ll be encouraged to become who God made you to be in Christ which will empower you to “Make Life Beautiful”.
