Monthly Meditation:
FREEDOM
What is true freedom?
Freedom
is to live in Christ. In Christ we have been set free from many things
that would enslave us. It is our acknowledgment of what God has done for
us in Christ that causes us to walk in that freedom. God has freed us
from fear, worry, sickness, disease, poverty, barrenness, drought,
defeat, bad relationships, insecurities, distress, sorrow, pain, the
curses that came from not following God, from being down & out, from
not being able to enjoy the fruit of our labor, from sin, and of
course, from hell.
Because God has freed us does not mean
these things are not presented to us. The key to walking free is
realizing Christ Jesus paid the price, embracing what He did and acting
on it. For example, someone could tell you that there is a gift waiting
for you at a particular location. If you never went to that place to
retrieve the gift, it would just sit there. Let’s say you retrieved the
gift, but didn’t use it. The same thing would occur. The gift would sit
gathering dust.
The key to walking free is realizing Christ Jesus paid the price, embracing what He did and acting on it.
When
we receive Christ as Lord and Savior, we are like the person who went
to the location to accept the gift. If we do not embrace what He has
done for us and continue to live the way we did before receiving Christ,
we are like the person who got the gift, but never used it.
God has been so good to us. He made a way and gave us everything we needed to accomplish His goals for our lives. It was never God’s design for us to experience all the pain we might be faced with in our lifetime.
From the foundation of the world it was His plan for His creation to
live life as He lives it. Jesus came to restore that which was stolen
from us in the Garden of Eden. He accomplished it on the cross. It is up
to us to walk out the victory He gained for us. He came to give us life
and that more abundantly. (John 10:10)
As those of us in
America celebrate our freedoms as Americans, we should know we have a
much greater freedom in Christ Jesus and be thankful for it.
