Monthly Meditation:
LOVE
“For
God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who
believes in him will not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16,
NLT)
This scripture is the most famous verse in
the Bible, but do we really understand what it means. Because God is
love, I believe we will spend eternity learning more and more about what
love is.
It was the love of a Father to send his only son to live on earth and die for the sin of mankind.
It was the love of a son to give himself so we could become hi brothers and sisters.
It is the love of the Holy Spirit who directs us to the path of God’s love.
Many
people spend their lives looking for love in people, places and things,
but do not find it because it can only be found in God.
1
John 4:8,16 tell us “God is love.” According to the thesaurus, this
means God has his existence in love; He is alive in love; God breathes
love; God remains love, continues love, survives love, endures
love…..God’s nature is love; His identity is love; His role is love.
I
do not feel these words accurately describe what it means to “be” love.
There is no love apart from God. We are not capable of truly loving
without God because HE IS LOVE.
Love
is who God is. I am a woman. Even if I had a sex change, it would not
change the fact that I am a woman. It is in my cell structure. I may not
look like one, but I am one. With God, He always looks and acts like
love. He is the same yesterday, today and forever.
This month
as we celebrate a season of gift giving and showing kindness to others,
take time to meditate on God’s love, on who He is and what that means.
It will enable you to be a better person in 2012.
