Since
this is the month we celebrate Easter, I thought it
would be appropriate to share about the cross. The cross of our Lord,
Jesus is
something that is not discussed very much any more. People do not want
to think
about the pain and agony Jesus went through for the remission of our
sin.
The word “remission” means “the cancellation
of a debt,
charge or penalty”. When Jesus went to the cross, He
cancelled the debt, the
charge and the penalty for our sin. He stamped “paid in full” on the
debt. The
payment for our sin was spending eternity in hell. Since Jesus paid the
debt,
He made the way for us to spend eternity in heaven through the cross.
Because man gave himself over to the power of Satan when he
sinned, it meant that Satan owned us. God sent Jesus to buy us back. There was
nothing we could do, or any amount we could pay in order to be put back
into
relationship with our Holy God. Since Jesus never sinned, he was
able to pay
the penalty for sin. When we accept what He did on the cross for us, we
acknowledge that our debt has been paid.
I
am sure you have heard stories about people who did not
know they had an inheritance waiting for them, and didn’t discover it
until the
end of their life or never found out before dying. They lived in poverty
never
having received what was promised to them.
When
a person does not receive what was accomplished on the
cross for them, they are like the one who never received their
inheritance. In
order to receive an earthly inheritance, it has to be acknowledged and
acted
upon. It is the same with the cross.
In order for our debt to be
canceled, we
have to acknowledge it and act upon it.
If
you have never recognized the fact that you have sinned
and that it separates you from God, I urge you to do so now. Go to the
Lord and
say something like this,
“Lord I admit that I am a sinner and I thank you for sending
Jesus to pay the price for my sins. I make Jesus the Lord of my life. I
believe
in my heart that you raised him from the dead for me. I choose from this
minute
forward to live my life for you through Christ Jesus, my Lord.”
As
a result of receiving the work of the cross, salvation is
yours. In order to maintain it, read your bible, find a bible-believing
church
to go to, and spend time with Christians living for the Lord. If you
have any
questions, contact me at info@center31.com or call our

send you a
book to help you in your relationship with the Lord.
Here are some scriptures about the cross that
I hope
minister to you. Keep your eyes on the cross of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
It is
the power of God for salvation.
Romans 7:4
So
this is the point: The law no longer holds you
in its power, because you died to its power when you died with Christ on
the cross. And now you are united with the
one who was raised from the dead. As a result, you can produce good
fruit, that
is, good deeds for God.
1 Corinthians 1:18
I know very well how foolish the message of the cross sounds to those who are on the
road to destruction. But we who are being saved recognize this message
as the
very power of God.
1
Corinthians 2:2 For I decided to concentrate only
on Jesus Christ and his death on the cross.
Galatians
3:1
Oh, foolish Galatians!
What magician has cast an evil
spell on you? For you used to see the meaning of Jesus Christ’s death as
clearly as though I had shown you a signboard with a picture of Christ
dying on
the cross.
Galatians 3:13
But
Christ has rescued us from the
curse pronounced by the law. When he was hung on the cross,
he took upon himself the curse for our wrongdoing. For it is
written in the Scriptures, “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.”
Galatians
5:24
Those
who belong to Christ Jesus
have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there.
Galatians 6:12
Those
who are trying to force you
to be circumcised are doing it for just one reason. They don’t want to
be
persecuted for teaching that the cross of
Christ alone can save.
Galatians 6:14
As
for me, God forbid that I
should boast about anything except the cross
of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of that cross, my
interest in this world died long ago, and the world’s
interest in me is also long dead.
Philippians 2:8
And
in human form he obediently
humbled himself even further by dying a criminal’s death on a cross.
Colossians 1:22
yet
now he has brought you back as
his friends. He has done this through his death on the cross
in his own human body. As a result, he has brought you into
the very presence of God, and you are holy and blameless as you stand
before
him without a single fault.
Colossians 2:14-15
He
canceled the record that
contained the charges against us. He took it and destroyed it by nailing
it to
Christ’s cross. In this way, God disarmed the
evil
rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them
on the
cross of Christ.
Hebrews 7:27
He
does not need to offer
sacrifices every day like the other high priests. They did this for
their own
sins first and then for the sins of the people. But Jesus did this once
for all
when he sacrificed himself on the cross.
Hebrews
12:2
We
do this by keeping our eyes on
Jesus, on whom our faith depends from start to finish. He was willing to
die a
shameful death on the cross because
of the joy he knew would be his afterward. Now he is seated in the place
of
highest honor beside God’s throne in heaven.
1 Peter 2:24
He
personally carried away our sins
in his own body on the cross so we
can be dead to sin and live for what is right. You have been healed by
his
wounds!
