April Party Ideas
Since it is National Mathematics Education Month, have a math party. Decorate with numbers and math signs. Have math contests like you did when you were in school. Make numbers out of food. For example, arrange brownies, fruit or vegetables in the shape of a number.
April 9 go to the library. It is National Library Day.
April 10 is National Sibling Day. Have your children pick a name of one of their siblings and have them do special things for the one they picked. You could do special things for your own siblings.
April 13 have a Scrabble-a-thon. Invite people over to play Scrabble. Have a few boards depending on how many attend. Keep track of scores for each game. The person with the highest score will get a prize.
April 15 take your children to McDonald’s in commemoration of its opening in 1955.
April 16 is National Eggs Benedict Day. Make Eggs Benedict for whatever meal you choose. We have a few different recipes in our recipe section.
April 19 is Humorous Day. Leave jokes around the house in places your family can see. Put them in their lunch. Tell each other jokes. Laugh with each other.
April 22 take your children to work, if your boss allows.
April 23 make zucchini bread and give it away or take it to work. See recipe in recipe section.
April 26 make homemade pretzels. See recipe in recipe section.
April 27 is Tell a Story Day. At the dinner table or in a relaxed atmosphere sit with each other and tell stories. You can make them up, tell stories you have read or about your life.
It might be good to ask grandparents or some older people to tell stories from when they were younger.
I hope these ideas are fun and get your creative juices going concerning things you can do with your family and others.
Passover Starts April 18
Read Exodus 1- 16 as a family or to yourself during this week. See how God delivered the Israelites from the Egyptians. Discover when the first Passover took place and why. The first Passover was a type of the crucifixion of Jesus. Just as the spotless lamb’s blood was shed to keep the plague from killing the firstborn Israelites, so Jesus’ blood was shed for us and delivers us from eternal damnation/death. During this time, Passover Seder’s are celebrated in synagogues and in some Christian churches. The Seder meal is very significant and filled with symbolism concerning the Lord. If you would like to attend a Passover Seder, check your local area for the one nearest you on the internet.

Have your children pick a name of one of their siblings and have them do special things for the one they picked. You could do special things for your own siblings.
Easter Party April 24
This is a good time to have your children invite school and neighborhood friends over for a party where you can share the gospel with them and/or give them something that tells about Easter and the real events surrounding it. Have an Easter Egg Hunt at your home or in a neighboring park. Toward the end of all the fun, ask everyone to sit down so you can tell a true story. In a way that will be interesting to them, depending on their age, explain how Jesus went to the cross, died and rose again so we could go to heaven to be with him. Make sure you mention that no one is good enough to get to heaven because they have been good. You might want to use puppets or pictures to help you tell the story.
