For years men have been dealing with the big problem of ingrown facial hair (Folliculitis), not realizing that there are treatments and products that not only heal the skin, but prevent further ingrown breakouts.
Folliculitis is caused when the hair grows slightly under the skin and is trapped there causing a bacterial infection. Usually, most cases are mild and are more irritating than anything. In the more severe cases men can be left with serious scarring and hyperpigmentation (dark spots).

Depending on the severity of the case will determine how often you should see your Esthetician for a treatment. These treatments for men are relatively inexpensive ranging from $45-$85 a visit.
For at home regimens a good cream with salicylic acid or a low level percentage of glycolic acid in a cream is best. The cream will not only prevent the ingrown hairs, but it is a very good anti-aging regimen and reparative treatment for men with sun damage and environmental damage due to their work conditions, such as men in factories and construction workers. The creams can also help with hyperpigmentation (dark spots) that have been caused from the ingrown hairs.
